Tree service in Tea, south of Sioux Falls
Emerald ash borer reached Tea in 2024, and the July 2026 windstorm produced the highest wind report in the metro there. Tea has had a busy couple of years.
Tea, in Lincoln County just south of Sioux Falls, grew from 5,598 people at the 2020 census to an estimated 7,699 in 2024. The USDA Forest Service's 2024 forest health report for South Dakota says emerald ash borer was found in Tea that year, and the state listed Tea among the communities with confirmed EAB in June 2025. That puts every ash in town on the same clock as Sioux Falls: treat the healthy ones worth keeping, and remove declining ones before they turn brittle.
Tea has also been in the path of the summer storms. On July 30, 2024, 3- to 6-inch branches came down just southeast of town. On July 28, 2025, a derecho gusted to 68 mph a mile north of Tea. On July 25, 2026, the National Weather Service logged 81 mph a mile southwest of Tea and a 92 mph reading from a personal weather station in Tea, the highest in the event. Our Tea work is ash removal and treatment, storm cleanup, structural pruning in the newer neighborhoods, stump grinding and replanting.
